My fascination with water stems from growing up in New Orleans, near the Gulf of Mexico. Wherever I have lived, there has always been water - the Gulf, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mississippi River, or the Hudson River. I view water as a metaphor for life - when calm and flowing, it easily moves around obstacles in its way. When raging, it is a force to be reckoned with, and can destroy whatever is in its path. Layering color over color in several layers, in a mosaic style, seems to echo the rippling of water and the depths of the ecology below the surface.
